Skellgill House Cottage from the Yorkshire Dales Fields

Cottages Askrigg - Skellgill House Cottage

Skellgill House Cottage is an old Yorkshire Dales farmhouse situated in a hamlet of six houses known as Skellgill.

The rear part of the house is probably over 200 years old with low ceilings and stone mullioned windows whereas the front part was built in the later part of the nineteenth century. Adjoining the house are former farm buildings which would have housed a few cows and pigs.

Over the last 8 years, the present owners have modernised the house so that it now has central heating, double glazing and is comfortably furnished.

The property is inspected annually by the English Tourist Board.

The house is located at the end of a ‘no through road’ one mile from the village of Bainbridge and one and a half miles from Askrigg. Hawes, the small market town at the head of Wensleydale is five miles to the west.

Footpaths from the doorstep lead to all these destinations as well as local fells and waterfalls.
